Aaron Lewis and Friends Perform at Springfield Benefit Concert

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — A local rock star is back in town tonight, playing in front of thousands in Springfield, but the concert isn’t just about music.

It’s also about helping western Massachusetts.

He’s been in the spotlight since the mid 1990’s as the front man for the rock band ‘Staind’ and is an accomplished solo country music artist as well.

We’re talking about Aaron Lewis.

Friday, the 3rd Annual ‘It Takes A Community Foundation Benefit Concert’ is being held at the MassMutual Center, with performances by Jerrod Niemann, Craig Morgan, Eric Paslay, and Jared Ashley.

The concert benefits the ‘It Takes A Community Foundation, which is a non-profit charity Lewis founded with his wife, Vanessa. According to their website, the foundation aims to “revive rural communities across New England by providing assistance to strengthen, enrich and preserve these communities.”

There are still tickets available for tonight’s concert at the MassMutual Center box office. The show starts at 7:30.
