Springfield Shooting Victim Expected to Survive

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Police say the victim in an early morning shooting in Springfield is expected to survive.

According to Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney, a 37-year-old man was shot multiple times near Alden Baptist Church on State Street.

The shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. The man was rushed to Baystate Medical Center by ambulance.

Delaney says detectives recovered the weapon at the scene. They have yet to make an arrest. Police say the shooting was not random.
