Police Continue to Investigate Holyoke Shooting

Holyoke Shooting

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB) — Police continue to investigate a shooting that occurred in Holyoke Wednesday evening on Walnut Street.

Emergency personnel received a call just after 9:00 p.m. for a report of a male subject with a handgun at Pine and Hampshire Streets.

Then, shortly thereafter police heard reports of shots fired in that very area.

When officers arrived on scene they found a 25-year-old Holyoke man suffering from one gunshot to his lower torso in front of 289 Walnut Street.

The man was rushed by ambulance to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield where he underwent emergency surgery for non-life threatening injuries.

While police investigated they roped off at least 3 blocks in the Walnut Street area.

“Although numerous witnesses and residents of the area were present at the scene none were able to provide any details to investigators,” notes Holyoke Police Lt. Jim Albert.

As of Wednesday morning police say they have not taken anyone into custody and have no suspects yet in connection with this shooting.

If you have information that can help the Holyoke Police Department crack this case, please contact them at 413-536-6431 or just text it to CRIMES or 274637 and in the message type SOLVE and your tip.
