SPRINGFIELD/LUDLOW, Mass. (WGGB) –Hazy, hot, humid, and wet…kind of.
According to the parks department, eight of Springfield’s spray marks are open.
Which means you could find squealing kids poking and prodding at the sprinklers for just a bit of relief. “Right now I have a headache because it’s so hot out here now,” said Nik O’Brien.
Even with 90 temperatures, the sprinklers might not be the star of the show, said 5-year-old Lennis Rivera as he headed for the swings.
Meanwhile, at Ludlow’s Haviland Ponds took it one step further actually getting in the water, saying they enjoy it more than air conditioning. “In the ac you can sit down and watch TV, but here you can play, have fun,” Ariana Ortiz chimed.
With a what looks like a heat wave on the way, folks are brainstorming ways to stay comfortable in such scorching weather. “We’re going to hit the ocean and hit the ac if we can. I don’t have ac so I might be visiting them,” said Brian of his neighbors.
It might not be a bad idea, sitting in the ac while someone else foots the bill.
Barnes, Hubbard, Van Horn, Rebecca Johnson, Myrtle Street, and Emily Bill are the spray parks remain closed until they get repainted, and will reopen one by one once they do.
