SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Springfield Police have dealt with Cheyenne Harris in the past. In fact, there are several warrants out for her arrest. The most recent comes from the night of July 29th, 2012, when police say she hatched a plan to hurt a young woman, who had taken out a restraining order against her.
“The 23-year-old victim was home in her apartment on the third floor when she heard a knock on the door, and somebody disguised their voice like they were her boyfriend,” says Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney.
The victim wasn’t fooled. Police say she knew right away she was in trouble and called 911. Still, that didn’t give her enough time to escape unharmed.
“As they were responding, the door was kicked in and subjects then went inside the apartment and went after her,” says Delaney. “They threw things at her, choked her, they banged her head and as she was going down the back fire escape, there was another guy down there waiting for her.”
Police say she made it past him and into her neighbor’s house, where she camped out until officers arrived.
“She was brought to the hospital and after she was treated, she came to the Detective Bureau and picked out Cheyenne Harris as the person who assaulted her,” says Delaney.
Harris and her friends managed to flee that night before officers arrived. Police say she’s been evading the law ever since.
“The investigators who work in our warrant apprehension unit feel that Cheyenne Harris is still somewhere in the area and we’re reaching out to the public again to give us information as to her whereabouts,” says Delaney.
