EAST WINDSOR, Conn. (WGGB) – The severe weather in Connecticut leveled a large sports facility just off of Interstate 91.
The storm blew apart the Sports World bubble in East Windsor, Conn. Monday afternoon.
Twenty-nine kids and five counselors were inside the bubble, taking part in a sports camp, and began to hear the winds whipping around them.
Everyone sought shelter in a secure, hard structure approximately one minute before it collapsed.
No injuries were reported.
This is not the first time Mother Nature has damaged the facility. The Windsor Locks – East Windsor Patch reports that back in February, the dome suffered a collapse after a heavy snowfall hit the area.
The area where Sports World is located was under a tornado warning for a time Monday afternoon.
However, there is no confirmation at this time of a tornado or funnel cloud touching down. That confirmation will not come until the National Weather Service tours the area and assesses the damage.
