SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) – Star Spangled Springfield is set for Thursday evening and the fireworks display will be launched off the Memorial Bridge.
The bridge closes Wednesday night at 11:00 p.m. so crews can set up the platform, unload their equipment and lay out the fireworks.
They say this year there are more fireworks and they expect it to be better than ever.
“A little more variety, there will be a few surprises. David Blaine doesn’t tell what he’s going to do, its magic! Just know that it’s going to be a good show and the crowd is going to have a good time,” explains David Van Buskirk who’s with Grucci Fireworks.
The actual fireworks go off at 9:30 p.m. Thursday.
But before that there’s plenty of family fun to be had at Springfield’s Riverfront Park.
The Spirit of Springfield has brought in the Motown group, the Commodores and 150 kids with the Dan Kane singers.
Judy Matt of the Spirit of Springfield suggests getting there early and with chairs since she’s expecting a big crowd!
