Autopsy Will Determine if Body Found is Missing W. Springfield Fisherman

CLINTON, Conn. (AP) — A body found floating off Clinton has been sent to the medical examiner’s office to determine if it is a missing fisherman from Massachusetts.

The Coast Guard says 51-year-old Yuri Kirvpichev of West Springfield was fishing with two sons and a friend at the mouth of the Connecticut River off Old Saybrook, Conn., at about 8 p.m. Sunday when fell out of his 19-foot boat.

Authorities say he was attempting to retrieve a fishing pole he dropped into the water. He was not wearing a life vest.

The body was found Thursday night by a recreational boater in Long Island Sound about a half mile south of the Clinton channel, which is about 10 miles west of Old Saybrook.
