MGM Diversity Fair Held

MGM Diversity FairSPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) —  MGM is reaching out to the minority community to be part of a Springfield casino.

Executives from MGM and members of the Greater Springfield Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) hosted a diversity vendor information fair Monday at STCC.

It attracted minority, women-owned and disadvantaged local businesses.

The NAACP feels MGM gives these vendors the best chance of being part of an MGM-Springfield casino.

“Our concern was to make sure that we got the best vendor possible that would provide opportunities for communities of color and we believe MGM is that organization,” explains Rev. Talbert Swan, Springfield NAACP.

MGM is seeking a casino gaming license in Springfield.  Hard Rock International is proposing a casino in West Springfield and Mohegan Sun has casino plans for Palmer.

Only one license will be granted in Western Massachusetts.
