Body of Missing Girl Believed to Be Recovered

photo(107)SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (WGGB) — The body of a girl who went missing on Saturday in the Connecticut River in South Hadley is believed to have been found.

According to the Northwestern District Attorney’s office, the 5-year-old girl was located approximately 500 yards downstream from where she first disappeared July 6 at around 9:00 p.m.

In a press release sent to ABC40 Wednesday afternoon, District Attorney David Sullivan reports that although presumed to be the body of the missing girl, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will need to determine positive identification in the coming days.

The missing girl’s family who’s from California, has remained in town since her disappearance Saturday.  They have been notified of the discovery.
