Palmer, Mass. (WGGB) — Mohegan Sun has unveiled four traffic plan concepts for a proposed casino in Palmer.
The plans – a flyover, a partial flyover, an on-grade concept and an alternative flyover – are now under review by the state Department of Transportation.
In a statement, Mohegan Sun official said, “We are confident each concept offers an excellent solution and provides significant improvements to the intersection of Route 32 and the Mass Pike. We look forward to Mass DOT’s decision and to building the best traffic solution.”
Whatever plan is selected, town councilor Paul Burns feels the traffic issue will be resolved,” At the end of the day, it doesn’t serve them any good to have traffic backed up on the Mass Pike or 32, or 20, they want them in the site and they want them playing,” says Burns.
Burns says the Massachusetts Department of Transportation has the final say on which traffic plan is put into place.
Palmer is one of three locations in western Massachusetts vying for a casino.
