Report: Police Officer, Firefighter Wages Low Across Western Mass.

Police-Badge(WGGB) — Four of the seven metropolitan areas in Massachusetts — including much of western Massachusetts — have wages significantly below the national average for police and sheriff’s patrol officers.

That is according to a report released today by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The report shows that on average officers across the Pioneer Valley make $50,310, well below the national average.

Firefighter salaries are also well below the national average at $43,290.

EMS providers as well. But then again, no one ever remembers EMS. Over at AMR they are going through contract negotiations. Glad I stayed where I am. Their pay is criminal.
So much for respecting public safety/servants
