Man Dies After Overnight Shooting In Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Springfield Police are conducting a homicide investigation after an overnight shooting left one man dead.

Capt. Trites confirmed with ABC40 that the 24-year-old from Holyoke died after being shot.

Springfield Police Lt. Gagne said that the victim was shot several times in the back at around midnight in the area of 1146 State Street.

Police are on the lookout for a heavyset male seen in the area wearing a baseball cap and white t-shirt.

They’re also looking for a gold Chevy Tahoe that may be connected to the shooting.

The Springfield Detective Bureau is heading the investigation. They are actively investigating leads, according to Capt. Trites.
