SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) – 40′s Friends helps provide homes for animals in need, and during the summer, the need for responsible pet owners rises.

Local animal shelters, including the Thomas J. O’Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center in Springfield, are overflowing.

Right now at TJO, there are almost 40 cats and nearly two dozen dogs that are looking for good homes.

Join us tonight on ABC40 News at 5:00 p.m. as we will introduce you to several of these four legged friends as we help try to get them partnered with new owners.

If you would like to adopt any animal featured tonight, or any other pet at TJO, you are encouraged to go down and visit their center at 627 Cottage Street, Springfield.

The center is open Monday, Tuesday, and Saturday 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Thursday 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. It closed on Sunday, Wednesday, Friday, and holidays.

You can also call them at (413) 781-1484.

As always, you can visit our 40′s Friends page at wggb.comn for more information on pets we have featured every week on 40′s Friends.

With your help, since April, nearly three dozen cats and dogs have found new homes from 40′s Friends.
