Carnival for a Cure proves popular in East Longmeadow
It featured plenty of family fun activities, including this dunk booth – very popular on a hot day like today.
All the money raised goes towards cancer research in honor of an East Longmeadow girl named Brielle… who lost her battle with leukemia just last year at age 13.
Since 2006, Team Brielle’s Brigade has been raising money for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and todays carnival is just one of their many fundraisers.
“We already had our first event this year which is our cocktail party and silent auction,” explained Ed Moses, Team Brielle’s Brigade Captain. “That raised a lot of money and we’re back out today for a family event for carnival for a cure with all different games and events for the kids and the families.”
Another of the team’s fundraising activities – these purple potties because they’re looking to “flush out cancer”.
The toilets will be placed in people’s front yards, and to get them removed you have to make a donation.
So far – the team has raised nearly $900,000.
Purple, by the way, was Brielle’s favorite color.
