Ex-Bulger Partner Faces More Cross-Examination

Whitey BulgerBOSTON (AP) — James “Whitey” Bulger’s former partner returns to the witness stand to face more tough questions from Bulger’s lawyers.

Stephen “The Rifleman” Flemmi is due back in court Tuesday at Bulger’s racketeering trial.

Flemmi, who is one of the prosecution’s star witnesses against Bulger, began his testimony last week. Late Monday, Bulger’s lawyers began cross-examining him.

Flemmi testified that he saw Bulger strangle Deborah Hussey, the daughter of Flemmi’s longtime girlfriend. But Bulger lawyer Hank Brennan suggested that Flemmi is the one who killed her.

Brennan asked Flemmi if he had sexually abused Hussey, who called him “Daddy.”

Flemmi acknowledged having oral sex with Hussey twice, but claimed it was consensual.

Bulger is accused of participating in 19 killings. Flemmi pleaded guilty in 10 killings and is serving a life sentence.
