Garage Destroyed, Homes Damaged by Early Morning Fire

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — A fire that destroyed a garage and damaged several homes is under investigation.

Aide to the Springfield Fire Commissioner Dennis Leger told ABC40 that the fire started just after 2:30 a.m. Tuesday in a garage at 310 Commonwealth Avenue.

Leger estimated the garage damage at $30,000.

The fire also caused an estimated $20,000 in damage to two nearby garages and the siding of a house on Fern Street, which runs perpendicular to Commonwealth.

No one was injured.
