FEEDING HILLS, Mass. (WGGB) — The first was at the Pride Gas Station in Feeding Hills. Last month, a man scratched his way to being $10 million richer on a $20 ticket.
“Not bad. He’s a regular customer, he’s in there often, we’re happy for him,” Pride President Marsha Del Monte said.
Fast forward to last week, where Southwick’s William Johnson decided to buy a $10 Massachusetts Millionaire Maina card from Colonial News just across the street from Pride, because a fortune cookie message told him, “You will soon come into a lot of gold”.
When he finally played it several days later, he instantly became $1 million dollars richer, exactly one month after the Pride prize.
Mohammed Yusuf was the one who sold him the ticket. “Every morning, he picks one ticket and that day that ticket, he picked that ticket and he came back all excited, ‘Oh look what I got! I got a million bucks!’ and I said great!” Yusuf recalled.
Yusuf refers to his regulars as a family, and says they’ll probably use part of the store’s $10,000 commission throw them a pizza party.
“There’s a group of us here almost every day and joke around, compare notes, in fact 2 of the players hit $450 in Keno in the same game so I’m excited for them,” regular Renee Jury smiled.
As for lightning striking the same area twice, “It’s rare. Very rare. You know, I guess it depends on how the tickets are distributed, but it’s rare,” added Del Monte.
Two men named Tom and Harry have repeatedly won hundreds of dollars in Keno games, in addition to William’s million dollar winnings at Colonial News.
Johnson opted for a $650,000 lump-sum payment. He declined to speak on camera.
There are two $3 million prizes and 3 $1 million dollar prizes left in the whole state for the Massachusetts Millionaire Mania game.
