SALEM, N.H. (AP) — A woman has been accused of letting her 7-year-old nephew wander around a New Hampshire mall for four hours while she went shopping.
Ana Matos of Lawrence, Mass., told police Friday she was looking for her nephew; however, she was observed carrying three shopping bags containing over $500 in clothing.
Police said the 45-year-old Matos had no answer when asked why she didn’t notify mall security or the Salem Police Department when she couldn’t find her nephew. The child was found wandering around a store alone for at least a couple of hours.
Matos was charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
