Massive Fire at Brunelle’s Ruled Accidental

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (WGGB) — Investigators say that a fire that tore through Brunelle’s Marina fire was an accident.

Monday morning, State Fire Marshall Stephen Coan and Robert Authier, Chief of South Hadley District No. 1, said that the fire, which started around 6:30 a.m. Friday, started due to a failure in the electrical system.

As a result, they say that the fire has been ruled as “accidental.”

Nobody was inside the building when the fire broke out, and no injuries were reported.

Several boats were in a nearby structure to The Dockside restaurant, but employees were able to get those watercraft out safely to prevent any damage.

While the building on the property sustained serious damage, the docks remain open and operation for boating, and The Lady Bea remains running.

Marina owner Luke Brunelle has vowed that he and his family will rebuild and come back from the fire.
