SPRINGFIELD (WGGB) – It was a great day for a motorcycle ride… especially if it’s for a good cause.
And today’s Melha Riders Hospital Run was exactly that.
This morning, hundreds of bikers met in Westfield to stage for the ride.
Then it was ‘kickstands up’ at noon as they made their way to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children in Springfield.
“All the money we raise here stays at the Springfield Shriner’s hospital,” said Melha Riders Hosptial Run Chais, Michael Santos. “ We’ve been doing this 7 years. We’ve raised from $22,000 to I think our highest year was $36,000.”
This year, the Melha Riders raised about $25,000 – bringing their combined total over the last 7 years to nearly $200,000.
Their motto - “We ride so kids can walk”.
