Mass. Woman Suspected of NH Crabmeat Thefts

SALEM, N.H. (AP) — Police in Salem, N.H., have arrested a Massachusetts woman suspected of trying to stuff 21 cans of crabmeat into her purse at a supermarket.

Police said they were called to a Shaw’s Supermarket on Friday for a reported shoplifting suspect in custody. They arrested 39-year-old Marissa Rodriguez of Lawrence, Mass.

The Eagle-Tribune reports police believe Rodriguez is a suspect in two similar thefts at the store. A total of $470 worth of crabmeat had been taken. Police said they also found steaks and clothes from Wal-Mart in her car that were not paid for, and fake identification.

Rodriguez was charged with identity fraud, willful concealment, receiving stolen property and a warrant from Massachusetts on a shoplifting charge. It wasn’t immediately known if she had a lawyer.
