Son of Red Sox Broadcaster Jerry Remy Held without Bail on Murder Charge
WALTHAM, Mass. (AP) — The son of longtime Boston Red Sox broadcaster Jerry Remy is being held without bail after pleading not guilty to a murder charge in his girlfriend’s death.
Jared Remy was arraigned Friday in Waltham, Mass. He is accused of fatally stabbing 27-year-old Jennifer Martel on Thursday, a day after he was released from custody in an assault case against her.
Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan says police went to a Waltham apartment complex at about 10 p.m. Thursday and found Martel outside with multiple stab wounds.
Remy’s attorney was not immediately available for comment.
Martel’s child in the apartment was unhurt and is now in the custody of child welfare officials.
Remy had been released on personal recognizance Wednesday in an assault and battery case in which Martel was the alleged victim.
