RMV in Springfield Will Open an Hour Later Starting September 9

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — The MassDOT Registry of Motor Vehicles Division announced Monday that they will be adjusting customer service hours at 6 RMV branches including here in Springfield next month.

Beginning Monday, September 9 branches in Brockton, Lawrence, Milford, Springfield, Taunton and Worcester will open for business at 9:00 a.m., instead of the current opening time of 8:00 a.m.

The MassDOT says the early hour branch openings have failed to resonate with customers since the 8:00 a.m. opening time went into effect in 2010.

“The adjustment is in response to customer behavior and the Registry’s ongoing efforts to better serve our customers,” said Registrar of Motor Vehicles Rachel Kaprielian. “Traffic in our branches continues to be heaviest late into the afternoon; this move will help guarantee staffing levels more closely match customer demand throughout the day.”

The six branches will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  On Thursday’s the branches will open at 10:00 a.m. and close at 6:00 p.m.

Another Government Agency serving the People when THEY want to. I bet they didn’t get a pay cut to work less if you call that work. Yes private companies like banks are opening 24 7s. Why people want a Govt. agency to provide them services is beyond me. Fire them and privatize the agency.
