First Time Hitting 90 in Over a Month?

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) – The summer got off to a very warm start. We saw our first 90 degree day in late May and after a wet June, July went down as one of the warmest on record.

However, August has been a totally different story. The month has been cooler than normal with several morning lows falling into the 40′s and there have been no 90 degree days, yet.

The highest temperatures so far this month occurred yesterday when we hit 85.  So far this season have been 17- 90 degree days but the last one was over a month ago, on July 20th. In a normal season we see about 15- 90 degree days.

For the  first time this month we have a chance of touching 90 degrees, later this afternoon. It will be close with readings expected to climb to between 85 and 90.  Here is a list of 90 degree days so far this season, from The Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee, where the official temperatures are kept.

May 31st – 94 (Record high for the date)

June 1st – 92

June 23rd – 90

June 24th – 93

June 25th – 91

July 4th – 91

July 5th – 92

July 6th – 91

July 7th – 91

July 14th – 91

July 15th – 92

July 16th  - 94

July 17th – 94

July 18th – 96

July 19th – 97
