Wiffle Ball Tournament in Westfield Raises Money for VetsWESTFIELD, Mass (WGGB) — It’s a weekend of Wiffle ball in Westfield for the 5th Annual 9/11 Memorial Wiffle Ball Tournament.
Players took the field tonight for the opening ceremonies at Fenway Westfield.
The field is a 1/4th replica of Fenway Park… right down to the Green Monster.
The three daylong event includes free admission… as well as plenty of food, fun, and raffles.
There will also be Wiffle ball of course… with 12 local teams playing 21 games to determine a champion on Sunday.
But the ultimate goal is to raise money for a great cause.
“It’s about the kids. It’s about raising money for the families of our fallen officers and for fallen soldiers and that’s what this one is about,” Trooper Christian Michael Dolan of the Mass State Police. “This event is for the Massachusetts Soldiers Legacy Fund and half the proceeds will be donated to that fund.”
Play continues all day Saturday from 8am to 8pm… and again on Sunday from 10am to closing ceremonies at 4pm.
Parking is at the Westfield State University South Campus lot off Western Ave… right near the Wiffle ball field.
