(WGGB) — Senator Ed Markey was in western Massachusetts today, touring several communities and their housing and transportation projects.
Markey also stopped to answer questions on the escalating situation in Syria and concern over chemical weapons use.
Markey asserted that Syria had violated international law and a strike by the U.S. and our allies would be appropriate action to take.
“I think the U.S. statement to Assad in Syria is we’re going to hit you, until you stop using chemical weapons. We’re dividing that question from the civil war itself, but if you want to have the U.S. come in, then keep using chemical weapons and we’re going to hit you until you stop, and we’ll do it in conjunction with our allies around the world,” Markey explains.
Earlier in the day, the White House noted that it is still considering its options, but that any action will not be intended depose Assad.
