Suspicious Vehicle Forces Evacuation of Springfield Walmart

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Emergency crews responded to Walmart in Springfield Tuesday following a report of a suspicious car.

Dennis Leger, aide to Springfield’s fire commissioner, says that around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, a call came in for a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot near Walmart on Boston Road.

Inside the car, Leger explains, were four propane tanks, a gallon of an unknown liquid, and a boombox that had wires sticking out of it.

The owner of the car has come forward and is speaking with investigators.

Customers of Walmart were temporarily evacuated while the investigation was ongoing, but those people have been let back inside the building.

Leger says that the scene should be clearing up shortly.

No injuries were reported.

Some of you ppl really need to be ashamed of yourselves… There are many ppl who are hard working abiding citizens, who are not afraid nor ashamed if Springfield. Springfield is a city, with large cities come issues. As for the comment that sonic needs to go to chicopee, let’s me make it clear, chicopee has crime, one of the highest pedophile population in western mass. So much bashing of Springfield, remember Springfield wasn’t always so bad, soon to be it could be your city, what contribution are you doing to help these social issues???

Funny I went to Walmart the other day and saw nothing that was dirty or thrown around like a white persons house.
