MDA’s Annual “Fill the Boot” Campaign is This WeekendWEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — There’s a good chance you’ll see a firefighter on a street corner near you this weekend.
That’s because they’ll be asking motorists to help “Fill the Boot” for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Every dollar helps provide medical treatment and support services to individuals and their families living with neuromuscular diseases here in western Mass.
Rich Craven, the West Springfield MDA Fire Chairperson, told ABC40, “Any little bit helps, for any motorist passing by, whether it’s pennies, nickels, dimes. All the money goes towards the MDA, MDA research, summer camps for the kids, and amenities they may need at home as far as wheel chairs, for support.”
Also this weekend, is the Muscular Dystrophy Association “Show of Strength Telethon.” It begins this Sunday at 9:00 p.m. here on ABC40.
Tune in and join the efforts to find treatments and cures for several neuromuscular diseases. You’ll hear stories from MDA families and more.
