Congressman Neal Makes Statement on Syria
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) – Since the President’s statement Saturday, where he said he would seek Congressional approval before taking action against Syria, many politicians have been voicing their opinions on the issue. Today Congressman Richard Neal issued the following statement.
“I am pleased that President Obama is going to seek Congressional approval for any use of force in Syria. As someone who voted against the Iraq war, I want to see if the UN inspectors conclude that chemical weapons were used to attack and kill innocent civilians outside Damascus on August 21st. While the Syrian government needs to be held accountable for its outrageous behavior, I believe that every diplomatic option ought to be exhausted before the United States and its international partners contemplate any military action in the region.”
ABC40 has also reached out to Congressman Jim McGovern of the 2nd Congressional District, but he has not returned a comment on the situation.
