HOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB) — Holyoke Police have arrested a man they say shot a woman Tuesday morning.

Holyoke Police Lt. Jim Albert says that around 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, officers were called to 21 Bowers Street for a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound to her leg. She was taken to Holyoke Medical Center for treatment of injuries that Albert says are “non-life threatening.”

Albert adds that an investigation led to the arrest of 33-year-old Felix Martinez, who lives in that Bowers Street apartment. He is facing several charges including two counts of a handgun without a license, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a Class B substance (cocaine), and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building.

Officers conducted a search of the apartment and reportedly found two stolen handguns inside the residence.

Martinez was arraigned Wednesday in Holyoke District Court, where bail was set at $50,000 cash or $500,000 surety. He is due back in court for a pre-trial hearing on October 3.

Pittman, you can’t…LEGALLY…but stolen guns are easy to get if you have the money or break into someone’s home and steal one.
I keep advocating the anyone found with a stolen firearm should face a 25 yr. jail sentence with no chance of parole or plea bargaining.
That’s how illegal firearms possession should be handled and would virtually stop all this gun violence instead of making it tougher on the law abiding citizens.
