Holyoke Police Arrest Shooting Suspect
HOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB) — Holyoke Police have arrested a man they say shot a woman Tuesday morning.
Holyoke Police Lt. Jim Albert says that around 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, officers were called to 21 Bowers Street for a report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound to her leg. She was taken to Holyoke Medical Center for treatment of injuries that Albert says are “non-life threatening.”
Albert adds that an investigation led to the arrest of 33-year-old Felix Martinez, who lives in that Bowers Street apartment. He is facing several charges including two counts of a handgun without a license, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a Class B substance (cocaine), and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building.
Officers conducted a search of the apartment and reportedly found two stolen handguns inside the residence.
Martinez was arraigned Wednesday in Holyoke District Court, where bail was set at $50,000 cash or $500,000 surety. He is due back in court for a pre-trial hearing on October 3.
