DEDHAM, Mass. (AP) — A Stoughton man has pleaded not guilty to drunken driving and manslaughter charges in connection with a fatal crash that killed a Curry College nursing student and cheerleader.

Sean Jackman was released on $25,000 bail and ordered to remain under house arrest except for medical and legal appointments after entering his plea Wednesday in Norfolk Superior Court.

Prosecutors say the 24-year-old Jackman was drunk when he crashed his car in Canton in May, killing his passenger, 20-year-old Evan Bard of Agawam.

The couple had dated and although the relationship had ended, they remained friends.

They were returning from a wedding at which Jackman had been the best man.

Jackman and his family refused comment after court.

Bard’s great uncle, Norm Minor, says the family has been devastated by the loss.
