Community Gathers to Remember Amanda Plasse

CHICOPEE (WGGB) — Family, friends, and community members gathered Saturday in Chicopee to remember Amanda Plasse, who died two years ago last week.

Her death on August 16, 2011 remains unsolved. Organizers hoped Saturday’s event would raise awareness.

“Sadly, her case is still unsolved,” said her mother, Michelle Mathieson, “so I just keep kind of pushing for it, putting the word out there that there’s a murderer right here in Chicopee center.”

The event involved games, music and prizes. The proceeds went towards the town’s parks department.

The group hoped to raise $10,000 to build a new playground in nearby Wisniowski Park.
