4-Year-Old Hit in Springfield While Crossing the Street

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB) — Springfield police say a 4-year-old girl was hit by a car Monday night as she was crossing the street with her 14-year-old sister.

Emergency personnel received the call at about 7:25 p.m. for a child struck at the corner of Kimberly Avenue and Allen Street.

According to Police Lt. Brian Keenan, the child was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

“They were walking across the street in-between traffic when she was struck by a moving vehicle,” explains Lt. Keenan.

He added that the driver did stay on the scene and was not cited.

The Springfield Police Department continues to investigate this accident.

Keenan says the 4-year-old will remain in the hospital overnight for observation.
