Meanwhile, Ed Sheeran will advise Christina Aguilera‘s contestants, OneRepublic‘s Ryan Tedder will coach Adam Levine‘s team, and Cee Lo Green‘s protégés will work with Miguel.

Cher performed on the show’s Season 4 finale last summer and praised the format.

“They didn’t have anything like this when Sonny [Bono] and I started,” she told Yahoo! Music, which first reported the news. “We played bowling alleys and roller-rinks. … This is amazing, where you have people who’ve been in the business, have been successful, and now want to help you.”

The Voice returns Monday, Sept. 23 at 8/7c on NBC. Do you think Cher will make a good mentor?
