The news came as a huge relief to her colleagues, especially Stern. “I gotta be honest, I thought she was a goner,” he said during Monday’s broadcast. “I was already making funeral arrangements. … I can’t tell you how dire everything seemed.”

While she was receiving treatment, Quivers continued to appear on Stern’s radio show from home. “It never occurred to me not to be on the air,” she saidMonday. “When I was on the air, I was pain-free.”
