The View kicked off its 17th season Monday, with new co-host Jenny McCarthysitting at the table for the first time in her new capacity.

“I’m so grateful to be here,” said McCarthy, who was greeted by the audience chanting “Jenny.” “It’s the best job ever, and I feel like the luckiest girl in the world.”

In her debut, McCarthy and her co-host Sherri Shepherd demonstrated twerking and (in a previously-recorded segment), Shepherd took McCarthy on a tour of New York City, introducing her to celebrities including Donald Trump and Matthew Broderick.

Blue Bloods star Donnie Wahlberg, McCarthy’s real-life beau, was the first guest on the show. “Jenny slipped her phone number to me after [I was a guest on] her show and I didn’t call her,” Wahlberg admitted.

But the two eventually connected and started dating around Fourth of July, according to Wahlberg. “She’s a wonderful woman,” he said. “We have a lot in common.”

The couple participated in a “How well do you know each other?” game, during which McCarthy revealed her favorite Wahlberg body part. (“His butt.”)

Michael Buble also performed a musical tribute to Barbara Walters, who’s leaving the show next summer.
