Water Main Break in Chicopee

WATERCHICOPEE, Mass. (WGGB) — Emergency crews were working to repair a water main break in Chicopee this evening.

At 6:30 p.m. we spoke to the Police Department and they told us a break occurred around 4:30 p.m. on St. James Ave. and Broadway Street right near Rite Aid.

At the time, police said that crews were working to repair it and they didn’t expect it to take too long, but couldn’t give an estimated time of repair.

Some homeowners lost water as a result.

One Chicopee resident on Broadway Street who reached out to us tonight notified us she had no water.

When we went to the scene shortly after 6:30 p.m. we didn’t find crews working or any water. ¬†Police say things may have been repaired, but told us the Water Department had not contacted them yet with the latest information.

ABC40 has reached out to the Chicopee Water Department and when new details become available on this situation we’ll provide an update.
