Nation Remembers 9-11 with Moment of Silence
NEW YORK, (WGGB)- Today marks the 12th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks. This morning, at 8:46 a.m. there was a moment of silence in New York at the World Trade Center site. The time marked when the first plane hit the twin towers. During the ceremony, families of the victims started reading aloud the names of those who died.
A second bell tolled at 9:03 a.m. rang to mark when the second plane hit the twin towers. Then the reading of the names resumed.
This morning there were local ceremonies closer to come. Many Western Massachusetts communities also held a moment of silence at the same times to pay tribute.
