SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB)- Drier conditions continue to spill into western Mass as a much cooler and drier air mass slides in from Canada, making things a lot more comfortable! Temperatures today will be more seasonable with highs in the low to mid- 70′s along with dew points falling off into the 40′s by his evening.
A large pool of cold air above us in the atmosphere will swing through this afternoon. This will allow clouds to billow up and could even lead to a quick pop-up shower/downpour or two. The best chance of seeing this will be in northern, elevated locations (along and north of Route 2) but the vast majority of the day still looks dry as the Big E begins. It will be breezy today as well. It will be ideal conditions for tonight’s high school football games with temperatures falling into the 50′s. Just be sure to put on the jacket.
High pressure continues to slowly build in tomorrow as our slow-moving front interacts off the New England coast with what will be the remnants of Tropical Storm Gabrielle. The front and cold pool of air will still be close enough to us that a crop of fair weather clouds will mix in and perhaps even take over for a time. Generally though a mix of sun and clouds will be above with crisp, fall-like temperatures in the 60s. Eventually the brisk breeze will back off and allowing for a very chilly Saturday night. Sunday still looks spectacular. High pressure will be right overhead. Full sunshine, light winds, milder temperatures and very comfortable levels of humidity are expected! The dry weather will continue through most of next week as well, September at it’s finist!
Have a great afternoon!
