Fundraising Walk Held in Northampton in Honor of Granby Boy

cancer walkNORTHAMPTON (WGGB) — A fundraising walk was held in Northampton Saturday in honor of a Granby boy who died last year from cancer.

The walk raised money for the Jimmy Fund in Boston, but more importantly, gave friends and family a chance to honor the memory of Nick Cayo.

Nick died when he was only 12 years old, after losing his battle with a brain tumor. Now, his family is raising money for pediatric cancer.

They held the Steps for Pediatric Cancer Walk at look park and got roughly 500 participants.

All the proceeds went to the Jimmy Fund and Nick’s family got a chance to remember the best parts about him.

“He just attracted people with his sense of humor and his love of life,” said his mother Michelle, “and because of that, people just always gravitated towards him, and that’s why people are out here too, especially to support him.”
