Springfield Bishop to Celebrate Pink Mass

Bishop McDonnellSPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — The Roman Catholic Diocese of Springfield is preparing to hold its third annual Pink Mass for people fighting cancer and those who died of complications from the illness.

Springfield Bishop Timothy McDonnell will be the celebrant of the Pink Mass scheduled for Sunday at 4 p.m. at St. Michael’s Cathedral in the western Massachusetts city.

The Mass will be followed by a “Celebration of Hope” gala dinner, an event that will raise funds for four local cancer support charities. That fundraising dinner will be held at the Springfield Lodge of Elks.
