NJ Boardwalk Fire to Be Ruled “Accidental”

SEASIDE PARK, New Jersey (WGGB) — Investigators are expected to announce tomorrow that the New Jersey boardwalk fire was “accidental.”

Two sources close with the investigation told ABC News that the fire was “not man-made” and was instead electrical.

Investigators originally said the fire was suspicious.

The flames started at the south end of the boardwalk in Seaside Park on Thursday and quickly spread north thanks to strong winds.

It was devastating not only because of the damage, but because the boardwalk had just been rebuilt after Superstorm Sandy.
