Selling Your Cell
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (wggb) – It’s an exciting time of year, your cell phone plan is up and you’re itching to get the newest and latest model. With a new contract you can reduce the price of the phone you’re buying, but don’t be so quick to throw your old one in a drawer, instead use it to help fill your wallet.
Selling your cell, it seems to be a hot trend, tons of stores offer this buyback service. Best Buy, Walmart, Radio Shack and even Apple has unveiled a new Reuse and Recycle Program this year. But there are other ways you can profit off that old cell phone, without even leaving your home. But what site will give you top dollar?
Let’s start with the online mega-store, Amazon. Their Trade-In Store is a little more difficult to find but once you’re there it’s easy to use. Like all sites they have you tell them what model you have, the condition it’s in and what service you used on it. Then it gives you a number. My iPhone 5, which is in good condition fetches me $136.75 in the form of an Amazon gift card. But it’s not the best deal.
At Apple.com you can search for their brand new Reuse and Recycle Program. Again select the specifics that describe your phone. Here my phone earns me a $285 Apple gift card. It’s a good deal, but what if you don’t want gift cards either?
If you’re looking for cash visit Gazelle.com. Go through the easy-to-follow prompts and bingo! Here my phone is earning me $300 in cash!
But if you’re looking for even more, SellCell.com is where it’s at. Again easy to navigate and my iPhone 5 can get me $350 in cash in as little as 5 days.
If you sign a new contract and get the latest iPhone 5S with 16GB, you’re still left with about $150 to line your wallet with. A great deal to make getting the latest phone a little easier on your bank account.
Just keep in mind, every site has a different description for what qualifies the condition of your phone so make sure you look into what they are when calculating your estimate. And these offers are just that, estimates. The actual value of your phone will be determined once the dealer receives and evaluates your phone.
