FOXBORO (WGGB) — The New England Patriots offense may be getting some help sooner than expected.
The Boston Herald is reporting that wide receiver Danny Amendola will not undergo surgery for a sports hernia, which would have sidelined him for a month.
Amendola initially injured his groin in a preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who the Pats will face on Sunday.
He missed the Patriots final two preseason games, before returning for the season opener against the Buffalo Bills. He caught 10 passes for 104 yards in that game.
He then missed their Week 2 win over the New York Jets.
Initial reports from team sources indicated that he would be out two to six weeks, but the timeline could now be shorter.
