Investigators Treating Death of 84-Year-Old North Adams Woman as Homicide

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. (WGGB) – State and local police are investigating the death of a North Adams woman.

Fred Lantz, spokesperson for Berkshire County District David Capeless, says that around 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, North Adams Police received a 911 call from someone reporting a death at 409 Walker Street.

When police arrived, Lantz notes they found 84-year-old Ellen Depaoli deceased at the home.

Lantz adds that that investigators are treating Depaoli’s death as a homicide.

An autopsy to determine the exact cause of death is slated to take place Thursday of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The investigation is being conducted by the North Adams and Pittsfield Police Departments, deputies from the Berkshire County Sheriff’s Department, and State Police detectives assigned to Capeless’ office.
