chicago

CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago police say 12 people, including a 3-year-old, were injured when someone opened fire on people in a park on the city’s southwest side.

Chicago Fire Department officials said the child was in critical condition. Two other victims were also in critical condition. The others were reported in serious to fair condition.

Officer Amina Greer said the shooting occurred shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday at a park in the city Back of the Yards neighborhood.

Julian Harris told the Chicago Sun-Times men fired at him from a gray sedan before turning toward Cornell Square Park and firing at people in the area. He said his 3-year-old nephew was wounded in the cheek.

Police spokesman Ron Gaines says victims are being interviewed. No one is in custody.

There is no reasoning to an act like this. Please don’t start preaching about gun control, Chicago has some of the strictest gun control in the country.
Maybe the entertainment industry should look into the gun violence that we watch on tv every hour of the day and the cold hearted murders in our nightly viewing that is desensifying the viewers on a daily basis.

It’s time to take a stronger stand to rid the criminal element that roams our streets.

My prayers go out to all the victims. I have to wonder, though, why anyone would have a toddler outside late at night in a neighborhood with any history of violence like many of the ones in Chicago. Not that it couldn’t have happened during the day, but the streets are so much more dangerous after dark.

Over 500 murders in a city with total gun control. Any body believe it works?
There’s something wrong with these people.
