North Adams Man Charged with Murder of Elderly Woman

police lights and handcuffsNORTH ADAMS, Mass. (WGGB) – A North Adams man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the death of an elderly woman there.

Berkshire District Attorney David Capeless reports they’ve taken 41-year-old, David Delratez of 512 Walker Street into custody this evening.  He’s being charged with one count of Murder and one count of Larceny of a Motor Vehicle.

Delratez was arrested in Bennington, Vermont on a probation violation warrant and after he was arraigned as a Fugitive from Justice, he voluntarily agreed to return to Massachusetts.

Once brought back, he was arrested and charged with the murder of 84-year-old, Ellen Depaoli.  Her body was found inside her home Tuesday evening.

Delratez will be arraigned in Northern Berkshire District Court Monday morning.    He is currently being held at the Berkshire County House of Correction without bail.

The investigation is being conducted by the North Adams Police Department, State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, Officers from the Pittsfield Police Department and Deputies from the Berkshire County Sheriff’s Department, members of the Berkshire County Law Enforcement Task Force.
