HADLEY, Mass. (WGGB) — United Way of Hampshire County has kicked off its 2014 campaign.
The theme for this year is the ‘power of community’ and they started it right with a party at the Courtyard Marriott in Hadley.
Last year, they raised $1.25 million dollars and this year they’re looking to top that number by $25,000.
“It gives us great energy to kick off, so there’s a lot of enthusiasm, a lot of people here do a lot for United Way and our community. So it’s a great way to give mutual support as we kick off and go after this ambitious goal,” explains Jim Ayres, Executive Director for the United Way of Hampshire County.
The organization says they need more than just donations; they can always use volunteers too.
The United Way runs more than 30 programs in Hampshire County designed to benefit everyone from young children to the elderly.
