UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The U.N. Security Council has voted unanimously in favor of a resolution that calls for securing and destroying Syria’s chemical weapons stockpile.

The agreement comes following weeks of tense negotiations. The talks were preceded by a U.S. call for a military strike against Syrian targets following the deaths of more than 1,000 people from chemical weapons.

U.N. chief Ban Ki-moon called the resolution historic. But he warned it is not a license to kill with conventional weapons. Secretary of State John Kerry says the resolution will be strong, enforceable and precedent-setting.

The vote came just hours after the world’s chemical weapons watchdog adopted a U.S.-Russian plan that lays out benchmarks and timelines for cataloguing, quarantining and ultimately destroying Syria’s chemical weapons and delivery systems.

The Security Council resolution enshrines the plan approved by Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, making it legally binding.

Thank you UN for this. Thank all of us for contacting Obummer and telling him to NOT BOMB ANYMORE COUNTRIES without UN approval. The citizens of the USA are sick and tired of illegal, immoral wars and violence this government seems to think solves everything. I will Obummer credit, he listened to us and the rest of the world, and didn’t act. If that had been a Republican in office Iran would have been bombed by McCain (a campaign promise) his first few months in office, and we would now be embroiled in WW3 instead of making possible peace with one of the worlds most dangerous nuclear armed countries. The people are sick of us being the worlds police, that is the UN’s job, and we have no right doing violence on innocents without approval from all.

So, does our government and Obama lie to us? Yes, just like Bush did about WMD and Iraq. Every single international body that investigated say less than 500 people died. Our government continues to spread this lie about over 1400 having been killed in hopes of gaining support for their terrorist activities.

Bush didn’t lie… He believed the information given to him by experts in the field , then acted on it. How soon we forget about 9/11 !!!!!!
